“Every community in North Georgia witnesses the bravery of police officers, firefighters and other first responders. They work every day to keep us safe. This scholarship is another way we can recognize their daily selfless actions by helping their children achieve a more secure future through advanced education, said company President Justin Owen. Recognizing first responders and their families is very important to us,” he explained. “Last year we established our Protect Our Local Heroes Program which provides all active police offices, firemen and EMTs with a Free Security System or a Free year monitoring service if they have a system already. This scholarship gives us a chance to do something more and focus on the children of first responders.”

The Owen Security’s Future Heroes Scholarship Program is open to high school students who live in North Georgia. All Georgia high school students whose parent is a first responder are eligible to participate in a security industry scholarship program sponsored by the Electronic Security Association (ESA). An active member of the Georgia ESA chapter, Owen Security endorses ESA’s awards given to children of first responders through its national Youth Scholarship Program. The 2015 ESA Youth Scholarship Program will award a $7,500 scholarship to the first-place winner, and $2,500 to the second-place winner selected from applicants across the country. The Georgia chapter offers a $1,000 scholarship to a deserving Georgia student.
